Career workshop: Your place in the sun

The Bergen Biomedical Research School has invited a professional career adviser to hold a workshop on careers options, strategies & tactics for life scientists.

This is a 90-minute-workshop tailored to PhD-candidates in medicine and science, covering framework for career selection, introduction to key transferable skills, core value analysis, discussion of entitlement vs. empowerment, mindsets and barriers for smooth career trajectory.

Erik Wong, PhD, is a neuroscientist by training and has worked for eight major global pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He held positions ranging from research biochemist, directors of Pharmacology and External Sciences, to VP in global business development.

LECTURE “Career Development Strategies”

A lecture on how to implement career development in PhD-training in the future.

Career building skills are increasingly important for graduates of doctoral training programmes. In a diverse job market, candidates need counselling, guidance and good examples. Yet, whose responsibility is career guidance? What skills should we teach? And what are good methods of career guidance?

This lecture is aimed at YOU who is engaged in PhD-training and wants to provide good and efficient career guidance. The lecture is open to all, and supervisors, PhD-coordinators, graduate school managers are especially invited.

Matrix Biology – cell biology and physiology of the extracellular matrix, June 3-7

Bergen Biomedical Research School and the Center for Cancer Biomarkers offer this five day course, which includes lectures from local researchers and a number of internationally well-known researchers within the field of matrix biology as well as practical laboratory training.

The course will cover various aspects of extracellular matrix (ECM) biology. A recurring theme will be the roles of the various ECM molecules and their functions in health and disease.

Note, all lectures are open to everyone interested!
