Ukens publikasjon, uke 36

This week`s publication is from the Neurology section. The PhD candidate Yu Hong is the first author of the study: «Autoantibody profile and clinical characteristics in a cohort of Chinese adult myasthenia gravis patients».

Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder with heterogeneity. Autoantibodies against neuromuscular junctions are the key pathogenic factors of the disease. This is a joint study between Bergen MG Research Group in University of Bergen and Qingdao MG group in China. We tested the antibodies against acetylcholine receptor (AChR), muscle-specific kinase (MuSK), titin and ryanodine receptor (RyR) in a cohort of Chinese MG patients, and correlated with clinical manifestations and treatment outcome. Detection of autoantibodies in MG patients help not only in the diagnosis, but also in predicting clinical severity and guiding the treatment of the disease.
