Avtalen mellom UiB og Wiley gikk ut ved utgangen av 2024, og forhandlingene om ny avtale er nå stoppet.
Konsekvensene for oss er som følger:
Konsekvenser for lesetilgang
- Ansatte/studenter på UiB beholder lesetilgang til de fleste av artiklene utgitt av Wiley til og med 2024.
- Ansatte/studenter på UiB vil ikke få lesetilgang til artikler som utgis i løpet av 2025 i Wileys tidsskrift.

Konsekvenser for åpen publisering
- Publisering i rent åpne tidsskrift, tidsskrift med såkalt gull åpen tilgang, blir ikke påvirket av forhandlingsbruddet med Wiley.
- Åpen publisering i Wileys lukkede tidsskrift vil ikke fungere som før fordi UiB nå ikke lenger har publiser- og les-avtale med forlaget.
- For åpen tilgjengeliggjøring av artikler publisert hos Wiley med lukket tilgang, kan du benytte deg av UiBs rettighetsordning: Rettighetsordning for åpen tilgjengeliggjøring | Universitetsbiblioteket | UiB.
- Rettighetsordningen innebærer at du som forsker ved UiB er sikret rettigheter til å gjøre dine egne forskningsartikler umiddelbart åpent tilgjengelige i BORA, UiBs institusjonelle arkiv, uansett om du publiserer i et rent åpent tidsskrift eller ikke.
Breakdown of negotiations with Wiley
The agreement between UiB and Wiley expired at the end of 2024, and negotiations for a new agreement have now been halted.
The consequences for us are as follows:
- Employees and students at UiB will retain reading access to most articles published by Wiley up until and including 2024.
- Employees and students at UiB will not have reading access to articles published in Wiley’s journals during 2025.

Consequences for open publishing:
- Publishing in fully open-access journals, often referred to as «gold open access,» is not affected by the breakdown of negotiations with Wiley.
- Open publishing in Wiley’s closed-access journals will no longer function as before, since UiB no longer has a publish-and-read agreement with the publisher.
- To make articles published with Wiley under closed access openly available, you can use UiB’s rights retention policy: Rights retention policy for open access to scholarly articles | University of Bergen Library | UiB.
- The rights retention policy ensures that as a researcher at UiB, you are guaranteed the right to immediately make your research articles openly available in BORA, UiB’s institutional archive, regardless of whether you publish in a fully open-access journal or not.
