CCBIO symposium April 19th – 20th 2017

CCBIO cordially invites you to their 5th CCBIO Annual Symposium at Solstrand 19-20 April 2017. The symposium in beautiful surroundings at Solstrand facilitates that students and researchers can make new contacts and catch up on the latest cancer research in their field. Don’t miss out!

The CCBIO symposium is a combination of invited, renowned international and national speakers and two long poster sessions during which younger researchers present their research. International speakers include the chairman of the Nobel Foundation, Carl-Henrik Heldin, and also John Heymach, Angela Nieto, Robert Gale, Jean-Christoph Bourdon, Krister Wennerberg, Diane Bielenberg, Salem Chouaib, Frederic Amant, Janine Terra Erler and Jeanette Woods. In addition you will get to hear from CCBIO researchers and other national cancer researchers, as well as young and upcoming investigators.

Speed-dating mellom forskarar og legemiddelselskap
12. januar arrangerer Biomedical Network eit møte der legemiddelfirma presenterer nyheiter frå utvikling av nye medikament og inviterer forskarar frå Haukeland universitetssjukehus og Universitetet i Bergen  til speed-dating og forskingssamarbeid.

I tillegg til å diskutere konkrete prosjektsamarbeid med fire av dei største legemiddelfirma vil det bli anledning til å møte representantar for Statens Legemiddelverk, Regional etisk komité, Personvernombodet, Forskingspostane, Monitortenesta, Bergen Teknologioverføring med fleire.

We would like to highlight three upcoming and very interesting events that should be booked in your calendar right now. It is comparable to 3 Cup Finals in a row, namely presentation of the FINAL RESULTS from the three MedViz lighthouse projects that have been very active in the period 2014 – 2016:

Rørvik, Department of Radiology, Haukeland University Hospital and Clinical Department K1, University of Bergen.

Friday 02.12.2016 (12:00-13:00): MedViz Lighthouse Project – Multimodal imaging and ultrasound microbubble drug delivery in targeted cancer therapy, managed by Professor and Chief physician Bjørn Tore Gjertsen, Clinical Research unit, Section for research and innovation, Haukeland University Hospital and Clinical Department K2, University of Bergen.
 
Friday 16.12.2016 (12:00-14:00): MedViz Lighthouse Project – Model-supported data visualization to improve the diagnosis process, managed by Professor Helwig Hauser, The Visualization Group, Department of Informatics, University of Bergen. This event is also organized as a common Christmas Seminar in cooperation with Visual Computing Forum from Department of Informatics, UiB.
 
All the seminars are free, including light meals and coffee, and take place in the MedViz Incubator, Møllendalsbakken 7, 5th floor.

Inaugural Kjell Kleppe lecture

Department of Molecular Biology honours the memory of Professor Kjell Kleppe (1934-1988), one of our unsung heroes of molecular biology, and the one who amplified DNA 20 years before PCR.

Immediately after this event at 16:15, Professor Rickard Sandberg, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, will present the Inaugural Kjell Kleppe Lecture, a joint lecture with the Horizons Lecture Series:
«Single-cell RNA sequencing: a modern microscope»

Both events take place in Egget at Studentsenteret. Refreshments will be served between the two events. Everybody is welcome!

Earlier on the same day at 11:00-12:00, Professor Rickard Sandberg will give a research talk: «Analyses of allelic gene expression in single cells» in Department of Molecular Biology Seminar room, HIB.

Introduksjonsseminar om forskningsdata
14. – 15. november 2016 arrangerer Universitets- og høyskolerådets bibliotekutvalgs (UHR-B) arbeidsgruppe for forskningstjenester et introduksjonsseminar om forskningsdata. Det er mulighet for deltakelse en eller begge dager.Seminaret blir holdt på Radisson Blu Airport Hotel Gardermoen og henvender seg til våre kolleger i bibliotek og forskningsadministrasjon og er ment som et kompetansehevende tiltak i UH-sektoren. Seminaret skal gi en innføring i forskningsdata og relevante verktøy og metoder for dem som skal i gang med dette. Program finner du på http://uhrbforskertjenester.w.uib.no/

I forbindelse med den internasjonale Open Access-uken inviterer Universitetsbiblioteket til et seminar om åpen tilgang til forskning.

Arrangementet er gratis og åpent for alle.
Her får du blant annet høre om:

Kunnskap: et allment globalt gode – en reise i Open Access over 30 år Rune Nilsen, Professor emeritus i Global helse, Universitetet i Bergen. Rune Nilsen ble kåret til en av Europas Open Access Champions i 2016. Han mener at Open Access er et viktig middel i kampen mot akademisk apartheid.

Nasjonale retningslinjer: Åpen tilgang til forskning – et krav for finansiering? Oddrun Samdal, medlem av arbeidsgruppen, Viserektor for utdanning, Universitetet i Bergen. Regjeringen krever at norsk forskning skal være åpent tilgjengelig. Arbeidsgruppen foreslår i blant annet insentiver og krav knyttet til finansiering for å oppnå dette.

Hvordan kan jeg gjøre min forskning åpent tilgjengelig? Irene Eikefjord, Spesialbibliotekar, Universitetsbiblioteket i Bergen. UiB har endret kriterier for støtte til åpen publisering fra 1. oktober 2016. Hvordan få støtte til åpen publisering? Hvilke alternativer finnes for å gjøre UiBs forskning åpent tilgjengelig?

cancer_research_ethics11. October at the BB-Building there will be an open CCBIO Special Seminar on Ethical and Social Aspects of Cancer Research.

The event is open for all.

The seminar is also a pre-event to the 8th annual S.Net meeting, which will take place 12-14 October in Bergen, with several open parts, including all keynote lectures.
