Alle ansatte ved UiB skal ha gjennomført brannvernopplæring, som ved UiB består av et digitalt brannvernkurs og praktisk slukking. Vi oppfordrer deg som IKKE har gjennomført denne opplæringen til å gjøre det nå.

2024 NBS Symposium på BBB – 10. April

Dear colleagues,

The local board of the Norwegian Bioscience Society (NBS) will arrange a symposium at the BBB (‘vrimleareal’, 3rd floor) on Wednesday, April 10th from 09.00 to 13.00. The event is meant to be informal and fun. There will be short talks, a “reuse your old poster-session» with pizza sponsored by the Bergen Biomedical Research School.

The symposium will end with a keynote lecture by Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia Research Campus, USA. The tilte of her talk is: “COPII with ALG2 and ESCRTs control lysosome-dependent microautophagy of ER exit sites”

To make the day as fun as possible, we hope that many of you will sign up with your old posters, or just join as a participant. Everyone is welcome to present a poster, students, PhDs and professors alike. There might even be a prize!

NBS Bergen

104 mill fra forskningsrådet til forskning på helse og omsorg i kommunene

Alrek, Kunnskapskommunene og Utviklingssenter for sykehjem og hjemmetjenester arrangerer mobiliseringsseminar til utlysningen om 104 millioner til helse og omsorg i kommunene.

De av dere som tenker og søke sammen med kommuner fra vår region, er sterkt oppfordret til å komme, for å treffe kommunerepresentanter direkte. Unik sjanse!

Forskningsrådet kommer også (digitalt) for å introdusere utlysningen, og svare på spørsmål, samme gjør KS og Kunnskapskommunene. Kommuner er invitert til å ha stand i form av «cafebord» og en time blir satt av til direkte dialog mellom forskere (og andre aktører som vil søke) og kommuner direkte.

Seminar on how to give good written feedback to PhD candidates

Written feedback is a crucial component to the PhD supervision process, as it can influence the quality, integrity and outcome of the research. However, giving effective and constructive feedback is not always easy, especially when dealing with article-based thesis and ethical issues. How can supervisors provide feedback that is helpful, respectful, and consistent?

How can feedback foster positive and trusting relationship between the supervisor and the candidate? How can feedback reflect the latest research and best practices in the field? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in this half-day seminar, which is designed for PhD supervisors who want to improve their written feedback skills.

The seminar will feature a short lecture by Associate Professor of University Pedagogy in the Department of Education Robert Morris Gray Jr. He holds a PhD in Instructional Technology from the University of Alabama and brings over 24 years of faculty development experience, as well as 35 years of teaching experience in higher education. Associate Professor Gray will allow the participant to apply and discuss the feedback principles and techniques by giving case studies and role play exercises.

The seminar will also include a PhD candidate’s perspective on what makes feedback useful and meaningful for them.

Utlysning: MED Postdoktorprogram 24/25

Det medisinske fakultet tar nå imot søknader om opptak i Postdoktorprogram 2024/25. Frist for å søke er 15. mai.

Postdoktorprogrammet skal støtte unge forskere ved fakultetet i å utvikle ferdighetene som trengs for en akademisk karriere, bygge et fellesskap av unge forskere og gjøre Det medisinske fakultet til en attraktiv arbeidsplass for postdoktorer.
Deltakere: Unge forskere i postdoktor- eller forskerstillinger med en tilknytning til forskningsgruppe ved Det medisinske fakultet. Inntil 20 deltakere.
NYTT Innhold: Deltakerne vil få anledning å utforme programmet etter sine interesser. Mulige temaer er karriereutvikling, søknadsskriving, kunnskapsutnyttelse, lederegenskaper eller prosjektledelse.

Postdoc Development Programme at MED 24/25

The Faculty of Medicine is now accepting applications for admission to the Postdoc Development Program 2024/25. The application deadline is 15 May.

This program aims to support postdoctoral researchers in developing the skills necessary for a successful academic career, foster a community of early-career researchers, and make the Faculty of Medicine an attractive workplace for postdocs.
Participants: postdoctoral or researchers affiliated with a research group at the Faculty of Medicine. 20 places.
NEW Program: Participants will have the opportunity to shape the program according to their interests. Possible topics include career development, grant writing, knowledge utilization, leadership skills, or project management-
